Sleep Softly, Sleep Well

Laying in the dark
Laying late at night
You rest in my arms
Sleep softly by my side
With your head on my chest
Your hair cascades as dark water
Over the bright contrast of my skin

As I lay here awake
Keep you safe at night
Watching you dream
Watching you sleeping
This little piece of heaven
This little piece is mine
Watching you sleeping
Your body close to mine

But all too soon I awake once more
The dream is over
The dream never was
I still feel you next to me
Your skin close to mine
The pressure feels real
The memories just mine
I still feel you close to me
But it was only in my mind.
