I wanted to write something,
To record my state of mind,
I wanted to write something,
Captured for all time,
I wanted to write something,
A tail or some rhyme,
I wanted to write something,
To make your heart climb.

I wanted to write something,
A ballad of hope and joy,
I wanted to write something,
Love from girl to boy.
I wanted to write something,
To make you see the truth,
I wanted to write something,
Of the fantasy of youth.

I wanted to write something,
For just a little while,
I wanted to write something,
Words to make you smile,
I wanted to write something,
Of darkness and decay,
I wanted to write something,
A dream of a better day.

I wanted to write something,
But I had nothing to say,
I wanted to write something,
Maybe another day?
