It’s what you’ve been conditioned to think you do
Must haves, need to knows, want it now
To those which broadcast you’re just a cash cow

So where are the important stories?
A thousand people die every day
Where’s space for them in your precious air time?
Or do they just fade away?

The cost of life is measured in viewing figures
Make the people care and watch them soar!
Until the time you need a new hook
then they are right out the door

Newscasters with a smile
Tell you just how the world has gone to hell
Minor things blown out of proportion
Big things skipped over if they even cover it at all

This is a wake up call
To use your mind while you’ve got it at all
Look past what they feed you each day
Make your mind up and have a say

The world is bigger than your television
More goes on than you can see
But you’re lost in game show heaven
“Deal or no deal” is all your see

You are happy as long as the real world
Doesn’t interrupt your evening tea

Feel like you’re watching something important
But look again and do you really care?

So wake up from your small little world
See the whole thing for what it is
You’ve been drinking from a drip
When in reality the whole ocean waits
