Drowning

Eyelids heavy
mind too
constantly swimming
thoughts of you
eyes red raw
shiny and wet
cursing the day
the day we met
magical then
bitter now

and the smell of you wont go
sight of you behind in my eyes
drowning under my thoughts of you
drowning even though we are through

darkness friend
silence companion
alone myself
memories of you
shimmer in dark
fish in a stream
flowing forward
towards the end
from the very start

it would be so easy to give up
lay back and drown in what was
just let this stream dash me against the rocks of life
give up and give in
not even trying to swim
let my eyelids close
my breath exhale
my life escape
my world end
go under again

and the smell of you wont go
sight of you behind in my eyes
drowning under my thoughts of you
drowning even though we are through

forever in me
forever in mind
forever long time
drown in what was
swim anew
much easier choice
when I had you.
