Another Night

A flicker of life
In the cold dark night
In intake of breath
The cigar alights
Watching the house
With slow intent
Waiting for a moment
One which feels right
What to then?
As everyone sleeps?
Steal in silently
Like a dark breeze
Move To Your room
With practiced ease
Then do I watch you,
Sleeping so sound
unaware of my presence there?
or take this blade to you
end it right now?
If I was a vampire
I’d drift in like smoke
Watch you for a time
your beauty of sleep
then fall upon you
drink your life blood deep
Another breath
The cigar glows its last embers bright
I smile to myself
You’ll keep for another night…
